International brands still play a dominant role in the upper-end cosmetic market in China with TNC like L’Oreal, P&G and Shiseido reporting phenomenal sales in 2010. While in the middle- to lower-price market, domestic brands are getting increasingly competitive with their lower price against good quality, stronger cultural heritage and consumers’ recognition.
The internet is fast becoming an important distribution channel in China. E-commerce has been expanding rapidly as fuelled by the presence of more than 400 million internet users in the country. Cosmetic is by now the third among all categories of online purchase with sales accounting for RMB15 billion.
This conference will analyse the current cosmetic market in China in terms of skincare and colour cosmetics, with a special mention to the features of internet distribution channel. The conference aims at helping companies who are interested in entering China with a better understanding of the market.
