Autumn-Winter 2015/16 celebrates outsiders – those who dare to flow outside the mainstream. With our unstable world today, many people look to the security ofconformity. Yet these “outsiders” live life on their own terms and think beyond the boundaries of society’s boxes. Similarly, in today’s economic climate, there is so much overproduction and copying on a global scale. Only companies who dare to innovate will emerge as the market leaders.
This season we present four stories inspired by “outsiders”. Though differing in time andplace, they share a similar passionate spirit.
Our “Vanguard” story captures the exciting art scene in New York in the 50’s and 60’s.
For the first time, artists like Jackson Pollock, Willem de Kooning, and Mark Rothkopainted their feelings rather than using classical subjects and techniques.
“Darkness” embraces a modern gypsy lifestyle in a story that breathes of moody
romance. Considered outcasts by all they encounter, they travel as a tribe and carry with them a rich culture.
“Ghost” highlights those who prefer to live in their thoughts rather than in the physical
world. Like urban ghosts who roam the cities without human contact, their feelings areexpressed via computers and mobile devices.
“Fresco” turns to early 20th century Vienna when the city was in its Golden Age with an
exciting convergence of innovative philosophers, artists, musicians, and scientists. From Freud to Klimt, it was an period of unprecedented experimentation.
