ESTETICA’S reporter at the fair kept busy taking part in the many events, conferences, awards, and the exhibition floors at the most relevant networking event for the beauty industry in the Asia-Pacific region, gathering under one roof buyers, distributors, suppliers and retailers from all over the world.
A few of our favourite highlights included the Cosmoprof Awards, divided into The Innovation Circle Awards, presented for the first time last year, acknowledging companies with excellence in formulation and packaging at AsiaWorld-Expo (AWE), and the Beauty Circle Awards, which made its successful debut just this year, celebrating the creativity and the most successful marketing strategies of exhibitors in the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC)
Another draw this year at Cosmopack Asia, in the AsiaWorld-Expo venue, was the Light Powder Factory – an area where the entire production process of a cosmetic compact powder could be viewed, from the mixing of the formula to the packaging of the end-product. In a similar concept, the Cosmolab (in collaboration with Opal Cosmetics) allowed audiences to witness the production process of a fizzy bath bomb.
When it came to platform artists, the show presented by Patrick Chu and his team kept the audience spellbound during the AHMA hair show, staged to showcase the latest hairstyles and techniques by renowned hair masters and emerging talents.
Another fortunate find was the Boutique, a sample-bar of cosmetics in travel-size format, featuring 14 sponsored products and packaging by Baralan. Visitors were eager to purchase mini-size products for a symbolic price, with revenues going towards the Hong Kong Breast Cancer Foundation
The great thing about beauty fairs is that everyone comes home with some great new finds. One of our favourites was AROMASE (Taiwan)’s Juniper Scalp Purifying Liquid Shampoo with helps with anti-itchy properties on dermatitis that leads to psoriasis and unsightly dandruff. This products helps cleanse and regulate sebum glands, soothing and conditioning the scalp for healthy hair growth. Once scalp sebum and oils are balanced, scalp inflammation can be effectively reduced.
The other gem in our shopping bag was SH-RD Protein Cream (www.shrd.us) by Shaan Hong (Taiwan), a formulated Silk Protein Complex that combines the moisture and protection of silk amino acid and hydrolyzed silk protein. This jewel can smooth and seals the cuticle while locking in hydration and strengthening the hair, while offering UV and Heat Protection, while limiting chlorine damage while swimming.
And for that difficult issue of hair loss, we found an interesting innovation in Domo Hair (www.domohair.com), a customizable replacement based on the head shape of the individual and the comparison of hair qualities to offer a 1:1 recreation of your original hair volume. An easier and effective alternative to hair transplants, for a flawless and discrete replenishment of hair and self-confidence. Well worth looking into!
Last but not least, a special mention goes to Tokio (www.tokio.tokyo), the Japanese system treatment that replenishes lost keratins and interlocks them through its INKARAMI patented technology and finally seals up the cuticle, restoring hair’s strength up to 140%.
