Please tell us briefly your company’s story on how it began and which beauty market sectors it serves?
For more than 40 years, Intercos has been successfully involved in the creation, development and manufacturing of cosmetic products for the biggest international brand names in cosmetics. Founded in 1972, the company began producing color cosmetics from a small facility just outside of Milan. Today Intercos is a multinational engine of innovation with 12 production plants on four continents, with an offering that now includes cosmetic pencils, skin care and nail lacquer.
What do you think are some of most interesting aspects of the particular beauty sector you serve today? What are the challenges?
The cosmetic industry is a vast and constantly evolving world where the final consumer is more demanding than ever. Brands are challenged to deliver innovative products at light speed, meeting customer needs both functionally and emotionally. As a supplier, we have to anticipate these needs and find new ways to innovate while being faster and more cost efficient, delivering the highest customer satisfaction.
What makes your company’s products and services unique?
Intercos has the unique advantage of constant contact with product and marketing experts embedded in local cultures, traditions and languages. We live and breathe the global beauty atmosphere, creating product lines for clients in every corner of the globe and in every market segment, interpreting the unique spirit of each individual brand. We work year-round to source and transform information into a complete, world-wide vision of the future of cosmetics. With a highly specialized team of over 520 people dedicated to innovation, we turn each market’s unique needs and demands into reality.
Are there any particular new technologies, or ideas your company is planning on showcasing at Cosmoprof Asia 2014?
Our laboratories, marketing and sales team in Asia work closely with corporate R&D in Italy to fulfill regional needs through local sourcing and offer competitive, high quality formulas. At Cosmoprof Asia 2014 we will be showcasing brand new products and color & design collections that are specifically designed for the domestic market. We will also be presenting product and trend collections dedicated to the global market that can be produced in our EPZ zone in China, as well as at our plants in Europe, North America and South America.
What are the next steps of company development?
With a continuously growing worldwide network, our vision is to strengthen and expand our presence in Asia. In addition to our three production facilities, technology center and marketing offices in China, we will be opening a second plant to serve the domestic market, further increasing our current production capacity for makeup and skin care.
We are in the process of opening our eighth innovation center, which will be located in the highly technological R&D complex of Pangyo Techno Valley in South Korea. From this location, we will focus on raw materials, packaging, trend scouting and formula innovation for makeup and skincare.
